11/12/12 - Matthew 26; Mark 14

S - Matthew 26:36 - Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go over there and pray."  37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled.  38 Then he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even unto death; remain here, and watch with me."  39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."  40 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping.  And he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch with me one hour?  41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation.  The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."  42 Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done."  43 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.  44 So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again.  45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Sleep and take your rest later on.  See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.  46 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand."

O - My child whom I love, today I want to tell you . . . I went to the cross willingly.  Sure I wanted it to be another way, but I was willing to do what I did, just for you.  I knew that you would be a sinner and would deserve to die.  But I loved you so much that I went to the cross in your place.  I died so that you would not have to.  What are you doing about that.  Every time you sin, it is like driving another nail into my hands and my feet.  My death was not a pass for you to sin whenever you want to and get free forgiveness.  You should want to live your life as much sin-free as you can.

A - My sins drove my savior to the cross to die for me.  Because of my sins, he was tortured and crucified.  Every sin is another nail in his hands and his feet, another thorn in his head.  And to think that he did that all just for me, willingly!  My response should be to do my best to not sin as much as possible.  I will make every effort to live a life that is worthy of his dying for me.

P - Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son to go to the cross in my place.  Thank you for taking my sins away.  I confess to you that I am a sinner by nature.  I am going to sin.  I repent of that sin and ask you to forgive me of those sins.  Thank you for your grace and forgiveness.
